Innovative space technology is critical for military and intelligence missions to succeed in today’s era of global competition. Yet the unique attributes of the space domain require a tailored procurement and delivery approach that combines government understanding with Silicon Valley ingenuity—and puts the interests of national security and defense first.
To help the U.S. maintain superiority over adversaries, the government requires a new type of partner: an agile, independent technical integrator that works with both government and industry to deliver game-changing solutions.Â
Warfare Is EvolvingÂ
As warfare becomes increasingly digital, smaller-scale, agile, interoperable systems are becoming as important as military equipment. Rapid technological changes make the speed of acquisition and integration between these smaller, numerous, and highly complex systems vitally important.Â
Moreover, intelligence is evolving to depend more and more on space-based sensors and communication systems, requiring the Department of Defense (DOD) and intelligence community (IC) to protect these technologies that now supply much of their information.
Strategic leaders are also shifting their focus from individual platforms to the interconnectivity and interoperability between them. Space-based assets are essential to realize priorities such as Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2).Â
