The Department of Defense鈥檚 (DOD) mission partner environment (MPE) will be the United States鈥 key contribution to federated mission networking. MPE is a grouping of digital capabilities that provide a connected operating environment for U.S. forces and coalition partners. DOD's MPE must present an advanced roadmap for coalition partners while simultaneously enabling the integration of myriad legacy systems and networks.
The Air Force鈥檚 Mission Partner Capabilities Office (MPCO), which sets the course for MPE development, has set a top priority: to get communication flowing in an underlying communications infrastructure鈥攁 secret and below releasable environment (SABRE)鈥攕o that the U.S. and its allies can effectively build the future operating environment. The MPCO is implementing federated mission networking (FMN) standards that are focused on enabling human-to-human communication in support of combined operations. A data-centric environment is a critical enabler of SABRE, and ultimately, faster collaboration across countries and domains.
