Aloha from Hawaii

4. The Charity Work

鈥淭he staff here is more giving than any place I鈥檝e seen,鈥 Dennis says. 鈥淚n Hawaii, your credentials are the way you get involved in community activities.鈥 Firm staff are out there in their 鈥渂oard shorts and tank tops鈥 working the Wounded Warriors Canoe Regatta, helping protect and restore traditional Hawaiian fishing spots and working with Habitat for Humanity, among many, many other things. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not a government city,鈥 Dennis says. 鈥淗ere it鈥檚 around, how are you connected to the community. It鈥檚 about family and community first and then what you do. You have to make a personal commitment. That gives our office credibility.鈥

5. The Dress Code

When the firm went casual鈥攔elaxing the dress code of business suits associated with our brand for many years鈥擧awaii was already way ahead of the game. As you might guess, standard duds for Honolulu staff include 鈥淎loha shirts鈥 and slacks. 鈥淗ow we look at our appearance is how we are as consultants,鈥 says Lead Associate Jon Paul Akeo of Honolulu. 鈥淲e take our work very seriously,鈥 but the informality of dress 鈥渉elps us become more closely knit, it effervesces into the casualness in how we connect.聽 That鈥檚 the office atmosphere here.鈥
