Eric Syphard leads ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓAPP’s artificial intelligence (AI) engineering practice dedicated to improving the performance of human-machine teams. Eric and his teams focus on enhancing machine learning optimization and full-stack AI system development to maximize operator impact and work capacity.Â
Eric collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to design and implement AI systems for our clients across digital battlespace and global government enterprises. He guides AI research and development and partnership strategies and advises on AI-centered investments. Â
Eric’s keen focus on human-machine performance drives both his work and research, and with the latter, practice makes perfect. Eric is based in Belcamp, Maryland, where he oversees projects in the firm’s AI System Performance Lab. In the lab, Eric’s team focuses on accelerating and scaling the impact that emerging technologies have on operational AI system performance and engineering processes—all of which drive new and tested solutions for our clients.Â
Prior to his current role, Eric was the Army analytics lead for our strategic innovations business. He spearheaded the development of production-grade machine learning operations (MLOps) pipelines and AI-enabled computer vision and language-based systems. Eric also was the project manager and technical lead for the Data Science Bowl, the world’s premier data science competition for social good, presented by ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓAPP and Kaggle. Â
Eric is a recognized expert in statistics and AI systems engineering. Before joining ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓAPP, Eric worked as a biostatistician for Johns Hopkins University, where he implemented statistical algorithms and emerging technologies to improve the throughput of cancer research operations.
Eric received an M.S. in statistics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a B.S. in integrated science and technology from James Madison University. He is also certified as a project management professional (PMP).
